Friday Five: Things to Text Your Customers About

Welcome to the first instalment of “Friday Five” - a new blog series by Intelligent Mobile where once a month we share five of our tips, thoughts and general insights around a specific topic.

This month we’re looking at the ways you can use SMS to communicate with your customers, by covering five things to text your customers about.

1) Sales and Promotions

We know it’s obvious, but if you’re having a sale or running a promotion then SMS is a great way to let your customers know. Email marketing can be great (especially due to the ability to add great images), but chances are your customers will receive a lot of marketing emails. SMS on the other hand is an under-utilised form of communication, which really gives you the opportunity to cut through the noise.

2) Booking Confirmations and Reminders

Now more than ever, customers are being encouraged to book appointments to visit showrooms and showhomes, as a result of the ongoing coronavirus crisis. SMS is a great way to confirm those bookings with the customer, and send them a friendly reminder the day before to avoid no shows.

3) Announcements and Updates

If you have an important message that you need to get out urgently, for example a park closure or maintenance information for residents, SMS can be a great way to communicate that with customers en masse. If you segment your data lists by location, and upload them to the Mobile Messenger dashboard as a group, you can make sure to target the information to the appropriate people.

4) Feedback and Surveys

SMS can be a great way to gather feedback from your customers, either by enabling replies to the message and getting feedback sent back directly, or by sending a link to an external platform. It’s a quick and easy way for you to point customers in the direction of where you’d like them to review your product or service.

5) Customer Service

Customer Service queries or enquiries can be dealt with over SMS, and the advance of two-way messaging platforms like WhatsApp for Business and Facebook Messenger have made this even easier. By using platforms that your customers know and use to resolve any issues or respond to queries, you can create great brand loyalty.
