With over 20,000 downloads in the first month, the Longleat app is already proving a huge success for us and a hit with our visitors. The App has had exceptional feedback across social media, visitor and App Store channels. Intelligent Mobile were able to understand our goals, and help us achieve them. We have loved working with Intelligent Mobile and believe the App sets a high standard.

business OBJECTIVES

Longleat asked us to deliver “the World’s best Safari Park App”.

Working with Longleat, we developed 3 key objectives:-

  • Enhance the visitor experience - pre, during and post visit - to educate and entertain children and families and increase positive reviews on the App stores, Facebook and Trip Advisor;

  • Reduce reliance & the cost of print (brochures/maps) and replace CDs; and

  • Drive commercial opportunities by increasing “on park” secondary spend and customer loyalty (VIP & Annual Passholders).

creating the experience

The App comes to lifeon park’ where the content and navigation options are unique to each user and their exact current location.  As the user moves the App and its contents change.  It is a unique personal experience.

The project has delivered a number of innovative features and technical firsts:-

  • Safari Drive - A self-navigating, location-based audio and information system that combines a bespoke mapping solution and GPS;

  • Park Messenger - A new benchmark ‘in App’ notifications for Visitor Attractions, bespoke geo-location and time triggered messaging system to inform and drive secondary spend;

  • New Mapping, Xamarin & Umbraco tools – to deliver the project required technical ‘firsts’ in the modification and extension of these Microsoft approved platforms.

A key challenge was the lack of connectivity on-site. We overcame this challenge by allowing the App and key features to function offline delivering a seamless experience for guest.

The Longleat app has won ‘UK App of the Year’ at the UK App Awards 2019. It was also a finalist for ‘App of the Year - Travel & Leisure’ at the same awards.

The Longleat app also won ‘App of the Year’ at The Herald Scottish Digital Business Awards 2019.
